Hello Everyone,
The 2013 hunting season is underway and I just returned from a month of scouting and guiding elk hunters in California and Nevada. For more information on our elk hunts you can see our website at www.gandjoutdoors.com or give me a call at 530-263-0492.
This year we had 7 Roosevelt elk hunters in California and one early Rocky Mountain elk hunt in Nevada. We were not 100% success this year like we normally are with 6 out of our 8 hunters taking bulls this year. The two unsuccessful hunters both passed up 6 point bulls on their hunts so we were 100% opportunity. The rut was late this year and the first couple hunts were not as good as normal. We did take 3 Roosevelt elk that will easily qualify for the Boone and Crockett record book minimum of 290 inches. We have now had 22 hunters take bulls in California that will qualify for Boone and Crockett since 1999.
Charlie Hoppin took this great Roosevelt elk on the Northwestern hunt in California while hunting with guide Mark Duarte. The bull grossed 362 inches and is a 9x9 with so much mass that you can't get both hands around the antlers by the fourth and fifth points. Congratulations Charlie on the bull of several life times.
