Hello Everyone,
The deadline to apply for big game tags in Nevada is April 21. You can go to www.huntnevada.com and apply online. I encourage everyone to buy the license and build bonus points for each species.
Here are my recommendations for the 2014 drawing for deer, sheep, antelope, and elk if you would like to go on a guided hunt with G & J Outdoors. If you have any questions about quality of animals for a given hunt or anything else, give me a call before you apply.
If you don't want to draw the tag this year you can apply for a point for each species and it will increase your odds of drawing later on.
For deer I would apply in this order. Those of you that already applied in the nonresident guide draw and have tags or didn't draw cannot take part in the deer drawing, but you can and should apply for the other species.

For nonresident California bighorn sheep, I would apply in this order:
1.032
2.034
3.012
For resident California bighorn sheep, I would apply in this order:
1.032
2.031
3.034
4.012
5.068
For nonresident Nelson (desert) bighorn sheep, I would apply in this order:
1.268
2.267
3.271
4.184
5.182
You may also think about unit 213 for a last choice. This is an easy hunt for smaller sheep with rams in the 140s.
For resident Nelson (desert) bighorn sheep I would apply in this order:
1.253
2.268
3.267
4.271
5.252
For elk I would apply in this order:
1.161-164, 171-173 Muzzleloader
2.062, 064, 066-068 Muzzleloader
3.161-164, 171-173 Late
4.o76, 077, 079, 081 Early
5.076, 077, 079, 081 Late
6.161-164, 171-173 Early
7.062, 064, 066-068 Early
The muzzleloader hunts are rut hunts and you have to hunt with open sights. With today's muzzleloaders people are shooting 200 yards, but it does require some practice. If you just want all rifle hunts, use choices 6 and 7 as your 4th and 5th choice.
For archery elk I would apply in this order:
1. 231, 241, 242
2. 161-164, 171-173
3. 076, 077, 079, 081
4. 221-223
5. 111-115
For antelope I would apply in this order:
1.041, 042 early
2.041, 042 late
3.021, 022
4.065, 142, 144A
5.141, 143, 151-156
